Danny Devine
| Danny started in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. He is one of the few well-known poets, whom are talented in songwriting and singing as well. At an early age he won awards for his creative writing technique. In turn this help hin, developed in to becoming infatuated with poetry. After spending years in enhancing his skills in the ART, he began writing songs for other artists as well. Performing in local theater plays and producing and directing plays as well. He later became so skilled in his poetry, and songwriting capability he started writing songs for himself and performing live throughout the Chicagoland area. He started performing at venues such as, “Some Like It Black,” Spoken Word Café, “House Of Blues, “Metro, “Hot House, blue Onion, “All Jokes Aside,” and “Women ‘s Black Expo Event.” At these events he had the opportunity to work with and open for the following individuals; Yolanda Adams, Jon B, Montel Jordan, Biz Markie, and The Roots, just to name afew. In 2001 Danny Devine won the WGCI Home Jam Competition Award which entitled him to $10,000.00 dollars. This helped him deliver his first LP “Music Is Poetry.” (In which over one thousand copies were sold.)
